Freemasonry Structure in America
The Blue Lodge (Mother Lodge) is the foundation — all Masonic journeys begin and remain rooted here. Appendant bodies expand upon, but never replace, this foundation.
Blue Lodge (Craft Masonry)
- Entered Apprentice
- Fellow Craft
- Master Mason
The Blue Lodge is where all Masons begin. It is called the “Mother Lodge” because it instills the foundation of our Masonic precepts. Every Mason should always remain active in his Blue Lodge, as attendance and allegiance here should never be diminished.
Scottish Rite
- 4°–14°: Lodge of Perfection
- 15°–18°: Chapter of Rose Croix
- 19°–32°: Consistory
- 33°: Inspector General Honorary
The Scottish Rite expands Masonic teachings through philosophical and symbolic degrees. It emphasizes morality, allegory, and enlightenment from the 4° through the 32°, with the 33° conferred as an honor for outstanding service.
York Rite
- Royal Arch Chapter
- Cryptic Council
- Commandery of Knights Templar
The York Rite deepens the biblical and spiritual lessons of Masonry. It is composed of the Royal Arch, Cryptic Council, and Knights Templar, each offering unique historical, moral, and spiritual insights that build upon the foundation of the Blue Lodge.
